Each year the Georgia FFA Association holds a convention in Macon, GA for the over 77,000 members in the state. This convention includes multiple general sessions in the Macon Colosseum, an exhibition hall showcasing a variety of sponsors and career opportunities, as well holds various contests to determine state winners who will go and compete on the national level.

The role I have in this particular event is that of Technical Producer. I design the stage, logo, and script for the show based on the theme provided by Georgia FFA, and general branding for the year. I work with various pieces of technology to create and present multi screen graphics and animations for the duration of the event.  I also work with a variety of event professions both on the AV side as well as hospitality to ensure the event is handled efficiently and meets and exceeds the client’s expectations.
Stage design for the annual Georgia FFA Convention held in Macon, GA.
Using a program called Millumin on Mac, I am able to create multi screen animations. I would use After Effects to create the animated background and Illustrator for the theme logo. I would then assign each asset to map to a certain surface inside Millumin.

For this particular event we had three 8x15 LED video walls as well as four 2x8 LED video panels for the entrance columns.

Inside Millumin I would create a 4K document and take the output from the Mac and run it into a Datapath FX4. With that piece if equipment I’m able to take the 4K master output and separate it into 4 1080p outputs. I would take the top left output for the two duplicated side screens, the top right for the center screen, and the bottom left for the columns. This would allow me to design and run the show from one computer, as well as keep timings consistent across all the surfaces.
